We arrived on Friday night, and not long after we unloaded the car, and got settled, off to the club.
Les being his amiable self, right what yer avin, I had John Smiths Smooth, Daz had a Carling and Les had a John SMiths bitter. We were joined by Gary and Alec a little later on
ALL for less than a £5, The John Smiths cost £1.45 and the carling £1.75, and for anyone drinking Worthingtons Creamflow, £1.35, Guinness was a paltry £2.00, and what a cracking pint, You can keep these clubs that charge almost £3.00 for a pint of Worthys, and £3.00+ for Guinness, , Two FULL sized SNOOKER tables, two pool tables and darts. £2.00 for GUINNESS, now thats a proper club, eat your hearts out The drinks flowed all night.
Come Saturday we got out fishing, i forgot the name of the place, it was a club water tho, Daz had ther better day, he bagged up on silvers, Les and myself did not fare at all.
We did pack in for an hour to go and meet with Mark and Lesley in the local Tesco's, Then off back to the venue. The fishing was forgotten about for me, i had a lot of things to catch up on with Mark, The was 6 members from fishingposts.com, and they we told some home truths about things, all of them could not believe what was being said, but they say the truth is hard to swallow, , we all had a very good laugh about it, LMAO, but never mind that is rotten history now., Come Saturday night, guess what, back to the club, we were joined again by Alec and Gary, this time they had there lovely wives out, and i must say it was a cracking night, we all laughted and joked about a lot of thing, There was a bit more news told tho, the ladies could not believe it, LMAO what was being revealed
Come Sunday we went to another water ran by our club, BLYTON, a nice place to fish, an Ice Cream Parlour, plus cafe, and a cracking breakfast for a fiver. We also have a proper plumbed in TOILET, a flushing bog, with real RUNNING WATER,
We met with Bob on the bankside, a warm greeting and we were fishing.Later in the day Alec joined us
Daz as ever fished the pole, i fished feeder and Les went on the feeder and float. We all done well, lots of skimmers, apeice, On the last drop of the day Daz hookied into something,OFF IT WENT like a stean train, Daz only had the yellow hydro laccy in his pole set up, so it was a bit hairy,, the fish would not show its self at all.
However it did run out of steam, and here it is. It was foul hooked strasight thru its snout,
Les setting up
Bob in action
Today, Bank Holiday Mondy
At last got to see the River Trent stretch which is ran by my club
River Trent Newark S.P.A.C. And what a sight, in one word, BRILLIANT.
We walked the full length of the stretch, all flat and in prestice condition. Cracking pags, and more important, there is vehicular access to ALL PEGS, which means the stretch is VERY DISABLED ANGLER FRIENDLY.
Park the car behind your peg and fish to your hearts content, the only trouble you have to overcome is to open and close the gate behind you. There will be a comfatable 100 pegs, and out of that i would say 90 of those are DISABLED ANGLER FRIENDLY
I would say this is one of the best stretches of any river i have seen, a stretch od 100+ pags in anyones book would agree that its a cracking stretch. Some smaller stretches may be handy, but the larger clubs have the clout to get things,
10 to 15 barbel a session is not uncommon on this stretch, ranging well into DOUBLE FIGURES. We do have a team of very dedicated Bailliffs policing the stretch, but i think anyone daft enough to spoil it would be a complete and utter idiot, albeit there are a few of those about, total nobhead, ready to break the law by claiming to be trout fishing, total nobheads The club has a VERY strict rule, leave litter and your out, no ifs or buts about it.
There are also some brilliant chub swims, chub to 6lbs, not bad, and there's enough pegs for everyone to fish, the gravel bar has around 30 pegs, each capable of double figure barbel. The barbel are that prolific in the stretch even the EA net them to remove the spawn and sperm for their rearing fisheries, So you never know, you might have caught a barbel from our club stretch LoL.
Right then picture time
Drool over these,
Then we went to the " MEADOW " stretch, a slow and lazy stretch, ideal for stick float or feeder fishing, bream to double figures have come out of this stretch, again ALL pegs are VERY DISABLED ANGLER FRIENDLY, with direct parking behind your peg. The roach are second to none on this stretch,
A taster
What a cracking stretch of the RIVER TRENT, and its all there waiting for us on a real stretch of the river, all 100+ pegs of it.
The list of people wishing to fish the stretch is growing, i think we could get 50 names in a couple of hours LoL.
One thing i will say is this.
If your near enough to this superb stretch of the RIVER TRENT, pay the £25 joining fee and you will not be let down.
Back home from my jaunt with Daz down to see Mr Middy, THANKS again mate for the use of the lounge, and yet again to Daz for taking me down,. Had a great time, albeit a tiring one,
