Castletown Dene

At last, back on the bankside with my good mate Daz, Its been almost 5 months since i whet a line and its even longer for Daz,, so today was a great day for the two of us,

We decided to fish a local " new pond " its about 6 years old, species include, Carp, tench roach, and STICKLEBACKS, LoL

We arrived at the venue at about 8.50am, nobody else was at the venue, so we had the choice of the pags,

W e chose the top pegs, closer to the car LoL

Here's a shot of the venue

The water was very weedy, and with green algae, !!! We both set our poles up, Daz had done a recky last week and the lads who were fishing it then were bagging the roach on the pole, great stuff.

All tackled up and in the rigs went. My float began to dip almost from the word go, AAARGHHH, could not hit the bite's. i had flouro pinkie and alternated betwwen maggots and pinkie's. i had a rig on with 2lb bottom and a Kamasan B611 size 18 hook, i kept missing the " bite's ", then the frustration got to me, i set my feeder rod up. I mixed some plain brown crumb top a damp consistincey, enough for the feeder.

Daz then said a little word, LoL, it was clear why i could not hit the bite, Daz had a 1lb bottom and a size 20 hook.
A STICKLEBACK had taken his bait

This continued all morning for Daz, he did manage some minnows. He even moved to a new peg to try and tempt the roach, today was not a roach day for Daz.

Here's Daz on the pole

Two other angler appeared on the bottom of the lake, one of them came to our pegs for a chat, the usual stuff ensued, had much, nah, just stickles and minnows, LoL

He then told me about the bottom of the pond, pointing to where he was talking about, mmmmm thought i.
I then decided to cast my line to where the angler had shown me, BINGO first cast a small roach, in all i had 5 roach, two stickles and one minnow, LoL.

We had wander down to chat with the lads, they then pointed out the carp that were cruising the area, One of the lads showed us the pictures on his phone of the fish he had caught from the pegs we were standing on, a fine 15lb common, and a magnificent 6lb tench, those were among other species he had caught

The pond was very weedy where i was fishing to, i lost s few rigs due to the weed, !!!
It was a decent day on a new venue, even tho the roach did not bite, Another new place was tried out,
An easy day eased back onto the bankside for the two of us.
Roll on the next outing, with luck in two weeks time, this time to a more prolific venue.
Thanks Daz, your a star mate
